Tennessee Valley Authority
Barge Exhibit

The Tennessee Valley Authority operates throughout the river basin of the Tennessee Valley. It was instituted in the New Deal days to promote economic and cultural development of the depressed area. TVA developed hydroelectric power for the region while enhancing navigable rivers for trade, tourism, and transportation. SInce those early days TVA has built nuclear, coal, and gas-fired energy plants. The institution has also served cultural, environmental, and historic resources in the region.

The TVA exhibition consisted of two barges parked in tandem and bridged together. One barge represents the historic and technical face of TVA while the second presents the cultural and environmental aspects of the institution's service.
